Exporting to CRM or CSV

Back to the guide

Two ways to get records out of the directory: a CSV file, or straight into your CRM.

CSV

Download CSV gives you everything matching the current filter, not only the rows on screen.

Firms include name, CIK, file number, address, which sources they came from, LMM status, deal size band, industries and timestamps.

Contacts include name, company, email, phone, website, LinkedIn, location, credentials, specialties, membership organisation and the linked firm.

Anyone can download, viewers included.

Into the CRM

Needs a role that can write the CRM, so not viewers.

  1. Select rows. Checkboxes appear once you tick the first. You can then select everything on the page, or clear.
  2. Select Export to CRM for the checked rows, or Export page to CRM for every row on the current page.
  3. In the dialog, pick which CRM object firms become — it leans toward Accounts.
  4. Associated contacts already linked to those firms are listed. Include or exclude each person, and pick an object for them, usually Contacts.
  5. The dialog shows how many will be created and how many skipped.
  6. Confirm.

Selection covers the current page only. Moving pages clears it.

Duplicates are skipped, not merged

Before creating anything, each row is checked against your CRM in order: the stored source id first, then website domain or email address, then the normalised name.

Any hit and the row shows In CRM and is skipped by the export.

New CRM records keep a reference back to the directory row, so a later export skips them too. Exporting the same page twice does not create duplicates.

This is also why an export can report that it created nothing. That usually means everything selected was already there, which the dialog tells you before you confirm.

It is a one-way copy

Exporting copies data into your firm's CRM at that moment. After that the two are independent.

  • A later directory fetch does not update the CRM record you created
  • Editing the CRM record does not change the directory
  • The directory stays shared; your CRM record is yours alone

So treat an export as a starting point for your own record, not a live feed.

What you cannot do yet

  • Select across pages
  • Export without going through a page of results
  • Push updates from a later fetch into CRM records already created
