Signing in
Back to the guide
Signing in with a password
- Go to the sign-in page.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Select Sign in.
Passwords must be at least 10 characters. There is no other rule, because length does more for security than forcing a symbol into the middle of a word.
Signing in without a password
If you would rather not type a password, or you have forgotten it:
- On the sign-in page, select Email me a sign-in link.
- Enter your email address.
- Open the email and follow the link.
- The page names the account you are about to sign in to. Select Sign in.
Three things to expect.
Opening the link does not sign you in. The Sign in button does. This is deliberate: corporate mail scanners open every link in an incoming email, and if opening were enough, the scanner would use up your link before you saw it.
The link works once, and expires after 15 minutes. Asking for another replaces the previous one, so only the newest works. You can request at most three in an hour.
It confirms your address too. Using a sign-in link proves you own the mailbox, so an account that had not yet been confirmed becomes confirmed.
The form gives the same answer whether or not the address has an account, so nobody can use it to find out who works at your firm.
Confirming your email
New accounts are asked to confirm their address.
- Open the email and follow the link.
- Select Confirm my email.
- You are returned to the sign-in page with a confirmation message.
As with sign-in links, opening the link alone does nothing. The button completes it.
The link lasts 24 hours and you can request at most three an hour. Requesting a new one replaces the old. If you open a link that has already done its job, the page says the address is already confirmed rather than treating it as an error.
If you try to sign in before confirming, you are told, and offered Send a new confirmation link. That message appears only after the correct password, so it tells a stranger nothing.
People who join by invitation skip this step. The invitation already proved the address.
Forgotten password
- Select Forgot password? on the sign-in page.
- Enter your email address and select Send reset link.
- Open the email and follow the link.
- Enter the new password twice and select Set new password.
You are told to check your email whether or not that address has an account.
The link works once and expires after one hour. Asking again replaces the earlier one. At most three an hour, so the form cannot be used to flood somebody's inbox. A link that has expired, been used, or been replaced says so as soon as you open it, before you type anything.
Resetting your password signs you out everywhere, on every device, in case somebody else knew the old one.
Getting an account in the first place
Joining a firm that already uses Deeluge: an owner or admin invites you by email from Settings → Team. Follow the link in the invitation to set your password.
A new firm: firms are not self-serve. The sign-up page offers Request access, which sends your details to the Deeluge team, and somebody comes back to you.
