Asking AI about your CRM

Back to the guide

Ask Claude a question about your CRM in plain words, for example Which opportunities are in diligence? or What happened with Forte Capital last month?, or ask it to make a change, such as Create a contact for John Smith at ABC Capital Partners or Invite jane@example.com as an analyst. It works in your CRM as you, so it only ever finds what you can open yourself and changes only what you could change yourself.

Asking a question

  1. Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows to open the search box.
  2. Type your question.
  3. Press ⌘↵ (or Ctrl+↵ on Windows), as the bottom of the search box reminds you. ↵ on its own still opens the highlighted search result.

The search box closes and the assistant opens in a small window over the page you are on, with your question and Looking through your CRM… while Claude starts, then what it is looking at (for example Looking at search…). You stay where you are. The answer appears as Claude writes it, word by word. Names of records in it are links you can open; the assistant stays open while the page behind changes. Under the answer, Looked at says what it used, and Changed says what it changed.

To ask more, type in the box at the bottom and press Enter. Claude remembers the rest of the chat, so And which of those closed? works. Shift+Enter starts a new line.

In settings you can also ask from Search settings: type the question and press ⌘↵ (or Ctrl+↵), or click Ask AI under the results.

Keeping the assistant beside you

The assistant keeps one chat open while you work, on every page you move to. Claude knows which page you are on, so you can ask What does this page do?

The buttons at the top right of the assistant are icons; hover one to see its name:

  • the plus, New chat, starts a new chat.
  • the panel icon, Dock to the side, makes it a column at the right of the screen, and the page narrows beside it. Docked, the button becomes Float over the page, which turns it back into a window.
  • the arrows, Open as a full chat, opens the chat on its own page.
  • the cross, Close, hides it. The chat is kept under Chats.

While it floats, drag its title bar to move it anywhere on the screen. It comes back where you left it, docked or floating, after you reload the page.

To keep a chat you already have beside you, hover it under Chats in the left-hand panel, click ..., then Keep beside me. On a chat's own page, click the small window in a window at the top right (Keep beside me as I work).

On a phone, the assistant opens as a sheet across the bottom of the screen.

Making changes

Ask for the change in plain words. Claude can create and update records, add notes, create and update tasks, change saved views, dashboards and reports, add objects and fields, and change your sidebar. After a change it says exactly what it did, with a link to each record.

If you ask for a contact at a company that is not in your CRM yet, Claude creates the company too and links the contact to it, and tells you it did.

For a change that affects the whole firm, such as a new field or a shared view, or one that touches more than five records, Claude first says what it will do and waits for you to confirm in the chat.

Changing settings

Owners and admins can also ask Claude to change the firm's settings: invite someone or change a role, lock or hide an app under Features, restrict an object or a list, create a team or add people to one, change email filters and who sees logged emails, and add or pause a webhook.

Claude never changes a setting by itself. It shows a card under its answer saying exactly what will happen, for example Make Reports hidden for the whole firm., with Confirm and Cancel:

  1. Read the card. Its wording comes from Deeluge, not from Claude.
  2. Click Confirm to make the change. The card then says what was done.
  3. Or click Cancel, and nothing changes.

It cannot remove people, teams or webhooks, and it cannot create or show API keys. Do those in Settings.

What you can change depends on your role, as everywhere else in Deeluge. Viewers can ask questions and change their own sidebar, but nothing else.

Your chats

Your 5 most recent chats are listed under Chats, below Lists in the left-hand panel, including the ones you had in the assistant. Only you can see them. You can also start a chat on its own page with + next to Chats.

To see the rest, click All chats under them. A Chats column opens beside the panel with every chat. Type in Search chats… to find one by its name or by something you asked in it, and click it to open it. Esc or a click outside closes the column.

After Claude answers a chat's first question, it gives the chat a short name for what it is about, such as Deals in diligence. To choose your own, hover the chat, click ..., then Rename chat; or click the pencil beside its name at the top of the chat or the assistant. Claude never renames a chat you have named.

To delete one, hover it, click ..., then Delete chat, and confirm.

Good to know

  • It never deletes anything. Ask it to and it tells you where to do it.
  • It never reads emails.
  • It can be wrong. Check anything that matters before acting on it.
  • Each person can ask up to 10 questions a minute.
  • See how much you have used it, and what it cost, in Settings → AI usage (AI usage).
  • If you see The connection dropped before the answer finished. Reopen the chat to see it once it is saved., your page lost its connection while the answer was arriving. Claude still finishes and saves it: open the chat again from Chats to read it.

What you cannot do yet

  • Delete anything from a chat, manage API keys, or have it read emails.
  • Resize the assistant's window, or keep two chats open beside you.
  • Share a chat.
