Enriching people with Apollo
Back to the guide
If your firm has connected Apollo, you can fill in people's email addresses, job titles, LinkedIn URLs and locations from Apollo for the rows you tick in a table.
Owners, admins and analysts can do this; viewers cannot. Each person Apollo finds uses one of your firm's Apollo credits. To fill in details about companies instead, see Enriching companies. Apollo has to be connected first: see Apps and the toolbar.
Enriching the people you have ticked
Open a table of people, such as Contacts, or a list of them, and tick the rows you want to fill in. The box in the header ticks every row on the page.
In the bar at the bottom of the table, select Apollo's yellow logo (its label is Enrich with Apollo). The Enrich with Apollo window opens and says how many people it will look up.
Under What to fetch, and the column it goes into, tick what you want: Email, Job title, LinkedIn URL or Location. Next to each, choose the column it goes into. Deeluge picks the column with the matching name for you. If the table has no such column, the choice reads New column: LinkedIn URL (for example), and the column is added when you start.
Under Cells that already have a value, choose:
- Keep them, and fill in only empty cells, to leave anything already typed in alone, or
- Replace them with what Apollo finds, to overwrite it.
The grey note says how many lookups (Apollo credits) this can use at most: one for each person Apollo finds. Select Enrich and the number of people.
The window shows how far it has got. You can close it: the work carries on, and the bell at the top right tells you when it is finished.
When it is done the window shows four numbers:
- Filled in: at least one cell was written.
- Already had it: Apollo found the person, but the cells you chose were already filled in, or already said the same thing.
- Not found: Apollo did not know the person or had nothing for what you asked, or the record had too little to look them up by.
- Failed: the record could not be changed, for example because the email Apollo found already belongs to another record.
Select Done to go back to the table, which now shows the new values.
How Apollo finds each person
Apollo is asked about each record once. An email address or a LinkedIn URL on the record is enough. Without either, the record needs a name and a linked company (its account), and Apollo is given the company's website domain and name.
A record with less than that is counted as Not found without asking Apollo, so it costs nothing.
Seeing what changed
Each value written shows on the record's activity timeline as a change made by you, with the old value and the new one. See The activity timeline.
Records that are restricted from you are never changed.
If it stops
- If Apollo rejects your firm's key, the window says so. An owner or admin can replace the key in Settings → Apps.
- If your firm has run out of Apollo credits, the window says so.
- If Apollo is busy, or your firm has reached its pace (60 lookups a minute on the Standard plan, shared with enrichment columns), the enrichment waits and carries on by itself.
Whatever was filled in before it stopped stays filled in.
What you cannot do yet
- Phone numbers cannot be fetched yet.
- Apollo does not fill in company details for accounts. The other data apps do: see Enriching companies.
- This window does not run by itself; you start each run. To have new and changed people filled in by themselves, add an enrichment column.
- At most 1,000 people at a time.
- Viewers cannot run it.
