Enriching companies
Back to the guide
If your firm has connected Grata, PitchBook, Crunchbase, S&P Capital IQ, SourceScrub, AlphaSense or Preqin, you can fill in details about the companies you tick in a table, such as their description, sector, number of employees and headquarters, from that service.
Owners, admins and analysts can do this; viewers cannot. The app has to be connected first by an owner or admin: see Apps and the toolbar. Each company the service finds may count against your firm's plan with that service.
To fill in people's emails and job titles instead, see Enriching people with Apollo.
Enriching the companies you have ticked
- Open Accounts, another table of companies, or a list of them, and tick the rows you want to fill in. The box in the header ticks every row on the page.
- In the bar at the bottom of the table, select the app's logo. Its label reads Enrich with and the app's name, for example Enrich with Grata. The window with the same name opens and says how it will look each company up.
- Under What to fetch, and the column it goes into, tick what you want. Each app offers only what its service provides (see the table below). Next to each, choose the column it goes into. Deeluge picks the column with the matching name for you. If the table has no such column, the choice reads New column: Sector (for example), and the column is added when you start.
- Under Cells that already have a value, choose:
- Keep them, and fill in only empty cells, to leave anything already typed in alone, or
- Replace them with what Grata finds (with the name of the app you chose), to overwrite it.
- The grey note says how many lookups this can use at most: one for each company the app finds. Select Enrich and the number of companies.
- The window shows how far it has got. You can close it: the work carries on, and the bell at the top right tells you when it is finished.
- When it is done the window shows four numbers: Filled in, Already had it, Not found and Failed, as for Apollo. Select Done to go back to the table, which now shows the new values.
If you tick rows in a table of people, such as Contacts, the window says the app looks up companies, and nothing runs.

Revenue and total funding are written in US dollars, as whole dollars. Employees, revenue, year founded and total funding can go into number columns (and the money ones into currency columns); the rest go into text or link columns.
Sector is never written into the built-in Industry column on Accounts, because that column is a choice list. Choose a text column, or let Deeluge add a Sector column.
How each app finds a company
Each company is looked up once, by its website domain (the first one in Domains, or a column named Website or Domain) and its name.
- Grata and SourceScrub look a company up by its domain only. A company with no domain is counted as Not found, without asking.
- PitchBook and Crunchbase use the domain, or the company's name when it has none.
- S&P Capital IQ, AlphaSense and Preqin use the name only.
When an app looks a company up by its name, the answer is kept only if the name matches exactly (capital letters, punctuation and endings such as Inc. or LLC aside), so a different company with a similar name is never written in. Preqin suits firms such as sponsors and LPs best.
Seeing what changed
Each value written shows on the record's activity timeline as a change made by you, with the old value and the new one. See The activity timeline.
Records that are restricted from you are never changed.
If it stops
- If the service rejects your firm's key or other credentials, the window says so. An owner or admin can replace them in Settings → Apps.
- If your firm's plan with the service has run out of credits, or does not include its API, the window says so.
- If the service is busy, or your firm has reached its pace (60 lookups a minute on the Standard plan, shared with enrichment columns), the enrichment waits and carries on by itself.
Whatever was filled in before it stopped stays filled in.
What you cannot do yet
- This window does not run by itself; you start each run. To have new and changed records filled in by themselves, add an enrichment column.
- One app per run. To fill some fields from one service and others from another, run each app in turn.
- Crunchbase cannot fill in employees or revenue, and AlphaSense fills in only a company's sector, country and website.
- At most 1,000 companies at a time.
- Viewers cannot run it.
